Those of us who live and work and vacation in Wisconsin’s Great Northwoods are truly blessed to have that privilege. The vast natural resources of forest and water are a joy to behold and explore. I suspect that many reading this page know from first hand experience what I am talking about. I am sure most familiar with our area will agree that all of our local communities have a unique identity, or personality, if you will. Manitowish Waters is not Mercer. Then again, neither is Presque Isle, nor Boulder Junction, Winchester, Lac du Flambeau, Arbor Vitae; nor the even more rural communities of Oma or Springstead. All are different, not necessarily “better” or “worse.” All have their own unique mix of natural resources, man-made “improvements,” and community members. But all have one thing in common – the people that live and vacation in each of those communities love being there.
