No, I am not referring to the rapid expansion in size of the neighbor's woodpile (tho it is a sign of approaching winter) but rather to two other facts:  Last Friday was the last day for the tours of the cranberry farming operations that are organized at, and set off from, the Manitowish Waters Community Center every Friday through the growing and harvesting seasons.  The second sign is that the chamber of commerce office will not be staffed on Saturdays from now until next spring.  These both are true markers in the year-long cycle our community goes through, just like the falling of the leaves (in process now -- weren't the colors gorgeous this year?) and the lowering of the chain water levels (about half-way to the winter level, I'd judge.)
